MINNEAPOLIS – Transwestern today announces the newly renovated, 1 million-square-foot historic Baker Center, which comprises a full city block in downtown Minneapolis, will be unveiled to the public Thursday, June 15 at 10:30 a.m.
Baker Center is composed of four buildings: the 706, 705 and 733 buildings, all built in the 1920s, and the 730 building, built in the mid-1960s.
Notable features of the renovation include:
· The largest media wall in the Twin Cities, measuring 60 feet wide and nearly 7 feet tall, it is roughly the size of a highway billboard and composed of 45 individual display panels capable of displaying over 93 million pixels. The media wall, installed and managed by Spye, will initially feature a 30-minute art video loop celebrating diversity.
· A two-story art deco entry lobby on the corner of Marquette Avenue and Eighth Street, through which an estimated 40,000 skyway pedestrians pass daily.
· An amenity suite on the top floor of the 733 building featuring a conference center large enough to accommodate 200 people, a state-of-the-art STEELE Fitness Center and access to the rooftop deck. The STEELE Fitness Center is exclusive to tenants as a way to promote wellness in the workplace and features innovative Technogym equipment.
· An exterior glass curtain wall that gives the building a modern look while respecting its Art Deco origins.
